Antarctic krill oil

Omega-3 in the form your cells already use.

Fish oil carries omega-3 as triglycerides. Krill carries it bound to phospholipids — the same molecule your cell membranes are built from, and the reason krill oil mixes into water instead of beading on top of it.

Why krill, not fish

Oil and water don’t mix. That’s the whole problem.

Your bloodstream is water. Fish oil arrives as triglycerides, which are pure fat — they have to be broken apart and repackaged before your body can move them anywhere. Krill oil arrives already attached to phospholipids, which have a water-friendly end and a fat-friendly end, so they disperse on contact.

Fish oil

triglyceride

Beads up and sits on the surface. Your gut has to emulsify it with bile salts and rebuild it before any of it travels.

Krill oil

phospholipid

Disperses straight into the water phase. The omega-3 is already packaged the way your cell membranes are built.

Illustration of a chemical principle: triglyceride-bound oil separates from water, while phospholipid-bound oil disperses into it.

The animation above illustrates a chemical principle — how phospholipids behave in water compared with triglycerides. It is a simplified diagram, not a measurement of any particular product.

Antarctic waters where krill is harvested

Where it comes from

Krill is the base of the Antarctic food web

Everything down there eats krill — whales, seals, penguins, squid. A krill supplement is only defensible if the harvest is small relative to the biomass and managed by someone counting. The Southern Ocean fishery is regulated by CCAMLR, which sets catch limits well below the levels its own stock assessments identify as sustainable.

Start with one bottle

Omega-3 status changes slowly — it takes a few weeks of consistent intake before blood levels shift. One bottle is 60 days, which is roughly the window worth judging it on.
